On any day of the week, Barcelona’s main street, Las Ramblas, is a hive of activity. As you approach the pedestrian-only street that runs through the centre, you are instantly bombarded with a colourful array of people, sights, sounds and smells. Market stalls and live musicians fill the lower end of the street, al fresco dining and tourist souvenir shops converge in the middle and all sorts of weird and wonderful street performers take the stage from halfway up. It’s not hard to spend a whole day here – with so much happening, you never know what your next move will be, or who’s about to steal your wallet!
